Developing secure and sustainable urban food systems
Hosted by the the University of the Fraser Valley’s Agriculture Centre of Excellence (ACE), the Cities and Food conference brings together a consortium of academics, industry professionals, government officials, NGOs, funders, partners, and students to discuss urban agriculture.
Thursday, June 9, guest speakers tour Bio Pods
Guest speakers at the conference will tour the City of Surrey’s newly opened Bio Pods, made-in-BC twin high-tech greenhouses designed as a catalyst for agricultural research and innovation in British Columbia.
Friday, June 10, Conference at the UFV Student Union Building 8–4 pm
The conference includes a talk by keynote speaker Dr. Alex Awiti from East Africa Institute at Aga Khan University, a leading expert on food systems and climate change in Africa, as well as moderated panels and break-out sessions.
