Are you interested in an internship and curious about the opportunities available?
Internships are an ideal way to improve your skills and gain experience in a professional work environment overseas. Placements include working with NGOs, the private sector on a variety of projects that range from education, urban farming, green technology initiatives, informal settlement upgrading, event coordination, program promotion and other opportunities.
Students from all disciplines are welcome as your unique skills will help shape the opportunity. Students can apply to participate in an internship for credit or non-credit. There may be funding to assist with costs but internships are not paid. Course credit may be available depending on your program. Students may have the opportunity to complete an internship for course credit within the Fraser Valley/Greater Vancouver area or internationally including current placement opportunities in Mexico, India, Ghana, and East Africa. It is also possible for UFV to facilitate an internship placement within the international student’s home community.
These sessions will highlight potential opportunities in East Africa and as well provide connections to faculty supervising internships in other global regions.
Students are placed for minimum 8 weeks with an organization working as an intern on development related topics including corporate social responsibility, advocacy, human rights, environmental issues, food security, poverty reduction and community development among other development related topics.
Students have the opportunity to gain cross-cultural skills while assisting with a range of activities including project management, meeting facilitation, training, graphic design, social media content development, workshop coordination, research and proposal writing.
Each placement is shaped to the agencies requirements and students individual needs and expertise. Current partnerships include a range of international agencies, non-profits and corporations.
For more information, contact Cherie.Enns@ufv.ca. Applications are due in by the end of February for May 2015 intake. Please include a resume, cover letter and an unofficial transcript.
