Body Scan Meditation
In this session we will learn about the significant link between the mind and body and how increasing awareness of the body can contribute to better health outcomes. Participants will be guided through a body scan meditation. The benefits of becoming a good sensory detective and paying attention to the mind-body connection in our own lives will be explored. There will be time to ask questions and learn more about the experience through sharing and dialogue.
Thursday, November 4 12 – 1 PM
Christine is the Department Head for Child, Youth and Family Studies at UFV and has been using different forms of mindfulness and meditation in a career that spans over 4 decades as a psychiatric nurse, child and youth care counsellor, child life specialist and now as an associate professor teaching stress reduction to university students. Meditation offers a way to navigate the experience of stress, anxiety, pain and difficult moments in life. Building a practice of mindful meditation can help us be more resilient and find a greater sense of contentment in our lives, no matter how challenging it may seem. If you are interested in learning more about meditation, this series will offer the basics to explore a practice that can contribute to your overall health and wellbeing.
Please note that this event is for UFV employee fitness challenge participants only. To register for this event, please e-mail Kathryn.Wingerak@ufv.ca to receive the Zoom link.
