Take Action on Reconciliation
Canada needs to move from “apology to action” according to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
We invite you to join us on June 19, 2017. This day long (9AM – 4:30 PM) dialogue, organized in partnership by Stó:lō Tribal Council and the University of the Fraser Valley, will consist of sessions on Tell All Our Stories, Imagine a Future Together, and Take Action on Reconciliation. The goal is to begin, as leaders, to see our way forward in harmony, to continue to build relationships and healthy communities that we envision in our shared future. Stó:lō Elder, Siyamiateliyot, translated reconciliation into Halq’emeylem: xwla yetotelo:met qas ye slilekwel meaning: “towards understanding and harmony.” Listen to the sound clip.
The daylong (9 AM to 4:30 PM) event includes lunch and nutrition breaks. Register by emailing indigenizing@ufv.ca or lori.kelly@stolotribalcouncil.ca Following your registration you will receive details about the day.
You may call: Grand Chief Clarence Pennier (604‐796‐0627) and / or Senior Advisor Shirley Anne Hardman (604-702-2615) who will answer any questions you have.
