Join us, again, as we learn and uncover the growing need for a deeper understanding of the Indian student.
As India positions itself as a large source country for international study for its citizens, Canada has positioned itself as a receiving country. In this transnational exchange, the confluence of similar goals and different ways of learning both compliment and collide. As faculty we can learn much about how to understand the Indian student as related to Indian/Canadian education systems – both pre and post secondary, different pedagogical practices, Canadian supports needed for student success, and institutional change.
This session will help faculty contextualize the difficulties they face in relation to International students from India, cultivate ways to engage Indian International students in the classroom, and provide an opportunity for productive discussion around teaching International students.
The workshop is being led by Dr. Satwinder Bains. Among other roles, Satwinder recently served as the Principal of UFV—Chandigarh.
