UFV International is pleased to introduce the Global Engagement Volunteer (GEV) program. This program is an integral part of UFV’s internationalization efforts and welcoming new students to our community.
What are Global Engagement Volunteers (GEV)?
GEV’s are leaders in the UFV community. As a GEV, you will meet and support new international and local students, build leadership and intercultural skills, and plan events to showcase the culturally diverse and vibrant UFV community.
Come on June 24 from 12:00pm-1:00pm in the Global Lounge to learn more about the program. Snacks will be provided. Email chelsey.laird@ufv.ca for more info.

Who can apply to be a Global Engagement Volunteer?
- All UFV students (local and international)
- Must be taking at least one course in Fall 2015
What do I do as a Global Engagement Volunteer?
Global Engagement Volunteers have many responsibilities. Volunteers must:
- Attend training and pre-orientation meetings
- Attend and assist with International Student Orientation
- Commit to volunteering for one semester, (minimum of 4 hours/month) to plan Global Lounge events
- GEV’s may continue into multiple semesters with refresher training
How do I become a Global Engagement Volunteer?
- Sign-up! Deadline for Fall 2015 is July 10, 2015
- Complete mandatory training (July 18 or August 21)
- Attend mandatory orientation meeting (August 31)
- Participate in International Student Orientation (September 1-3)
What do I get by being a Global Engagement Volunteer?
- CCR credit
- T-shirt and other UFV swag
- Volunteer appreciation party
- Personal and Professional Development (intercultural leadership & event planning)
