UFV International has a special event coming up next week, Wednesday, June 20th in our Global Lounge (B223).
You are invited to the Global Lounge for a featured event, “World Refugee Day” in collaboration with UFV WUSC student committee and Jacklyn from your friendly local RBC bank. Jacklyn from RBC will also be participating in doing a free presentation on scams and frauds, so you don’t want to miss out on this free knowledge!
WUSC is a non-governmental organization who is dedicated to improving education, employment, & provide empowerment opportunities for youth. They work with a diverse network of students, volunteers, institutions, governments & businesses. Collectively, they foster youth-centered solutions to overcome inequality & exclusion.
UFV WUSC will be presenting a short documentary titled “19 Days“. The film documents refugee families first 19 days in Canada and offers a personal, and honest for the audience to comprehend a new refugee experience.
Currently, UFV local student WUSC committee is working towards sponsoring a refugee student at UFV, through WUSC Student Refugee Program.
As part of creating a deeper understanding of a refugee experience of navigating a new lifestyle in Canada. Jacklyn from RBC will be educating participants about how to identify and protect yourself from fraud. Financial scams are a reality for anyone, however, they can appear different or challenging to identify when someone is transitioning and settling into a new home. This advice is invaluable and relevant for domestic and international students.
Jacklyn, from RBC, will kindly be providing snacks. Please fill out the form so enough snacks will be provided for everyone.
