DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED\n\n\nThis event is for those interested in learning a
 bout Global Development. Come learn first-hand from individuals working in
  Kenya and South Sudan.\n\nThis event is open to the public for the expres
 sed purpose of educating the community on these global issues as well as t
 heir effects on the local community.\n\nGuests from Kenya and South Sudan\
 , representing Save the Children\, will offer\nfirst-hand perspectives on 
 children and families suffering the experience of living in armed conflict
  zones. In offering these global accounts\, individuals in our\ncommunity
 —whether they work for a local humanitarian organization or simply have 
 an immigrant friend or next door neighbor—will walk away with a greater 
 understanding of the global issues that led to the growth of our local imm
 igrant and refugee population. So long as global conflict abounds\, our co
 mmunity will continue to\ncontend with the influx of newcomers and the suf
 fering that has driven them from their homes—and we must be prepared to 
 welcome these families and understand the complexity of their stories. Thi
 s event will help the community deepen their understanding of global confl
 icts driving families to seek a better life in Canada and therefore\, enha
 nce their ability to serve the local immigrant and refugee community with
