SUMMARY:Día de Muertos Altar: A Mexican Tradition at UFV
DESCRIPTION:\nDía de Muertos Altar: A Mexican Tradition at UFV\nThe UFV Sp
anish Program invites everyone to visit our Día de Muertos (Day of the De
ad) altar in the Crit Space (C1401) on the Abbotsford campus\, open Octobe
 r 23 to November 5 during gallery hours.\n\nSet up by SPAN 201 students\,
the altar honours a living Mexican tradition that blends Mesoamerican Indi
genous beliefs about death and memory with Catholic practices. Bilingual p
anels explain the celebration's history\, the altar's parts\, and the mean
ing of each offering\, from marigolds and candles to pan de muerto and pap
el picado.\n\nThe space is also interactive: visitors can add a small item
to the ofrenda or share a memory of a loved one on our memory wall. Stude
 nts\, staff\, faculty\, classes\, and community members are all welcome.\n
\nOrganized by the Spanish Program\, Modern Languages Institute (MOLA).\nC
