Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course
UFV-HR is offering a comprehensive 8-week MBSR course for interested faculty and staff between January 21-March 8, 2021. It involves the following commitments:
- Attending a 1.5 hr orientation on Thursday, January 21
- Attending weekly practice-based classes every Thursday thereafter from 6:00 – 8:30 PM
- As a virtual Zoom class, you will require appropriate video and audio access
- Mindfulness practices for about 45 minutes a day
- A 4-hour silent retreat (virtual) on Saturday, March 6 from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is the evidence-based flagship secular-scientific mindfulness program first developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School that has been shown to help with stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and overall well-being. Costs are covered by UFV-HR and the course is led by Dr. Seonaigh MacPherson, a Professor in Professional Studies and a certified MBSR and MBCT facilitator. Orientation: January 21st, 6 – 7:30 pm
Virtual Classes: January 21 – March 8, 2021. 8 consecutive Thursdays from 6 – 8:30 pm
Mini-retreat: Saturday, March 6th between 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
