DESCRIPTION:President's Leadership Lecture Series with Dr. Robby Zidny\nOn 
 September 28\, UFV will welcome Dr. Robby Zidny\, the 2025 recipient of th
 e SEAMEO-Jasper Research Award\, to campus as part of his dissemination to
 ur in Canada. \n\nUFV was invited by the BC Council for International Educ
 ation (BCCIE) to host Dr. Zidny\, whose award recognizes emerging scholars
  whose research contributes to social development in Southeast Asia and en
 courages collaboration and knowledge exchange between Southeast Asian and 
 Canadian researchers.\n\nDr. Zidny’s award-winning research\, Science a
 nd Chemistry Education Innovation through the Integration of Indigenous Kn
 owledge\, explores how Indigenous knowledge can be integrated into science
  and chemistry education. His visit comes at a particularly meaningful tim
 e\, as we approach National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 
 30. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of Indigenous 
 ways of knowing and the value of creating space for knowledge systems to c
 ome together through respectful learning and exchange.\n\nFollowing Dr. Zi
 dny’s presentation\, a panel discussion facilitated by Dr. Stefania Pizz
 irani\, Associate Director of UFV’s Food and Agriculture Institute\, wil
 l bring together Dr. Zidny\, Swelchalot Dr. Shirley Hardman\, AVP\, Xwexw
 ílmexwawt\, and Dr. Daryl Smith\, Director\, UFV International. The conve
 rsation will explore these ideas through a One Health lens\, considering h
 ow our health and well-being are interconnected with one another\, our com
 munities and the environments in which we live. It is also a wonderful exa
 mple of the kind of knowledge exchange and collaboration that can help us 
 think differently about some of the complex challenges facing our world.\n
