SUMMARY:EFCIE Research Presentation: An alternative business model for soci
al innovation in the Fraser Valley
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe literature dealing with Business Models has considerabl
y grown\; however\, most research takes place in large for-profit organisa
tions in western settings\, rather than small–medium enterprises (SMEs)
with social goals. This presentation will illustrate an alternative way of
thinking about business models for SMEs by integrating social innovation
into its societal fabric.\n\nThe talk will be informed by a in-depth quali
tative research operated in the north of Vietnam showing that practices im
plemented by small family businesses suggest the emergence of a new way of
using business models. This presentation will introduce this new societal
business model that provides a strategic framework for enhancing social i
nnovation for SMEs by helping them to take into consideration the societal
outcome of their business with the ultimate goal to create and capture ec
onomic\, social\, cultural and ecological values. Such new business model
will then be discussed through the lens of the Fraser Valley socio-economi
 c environment.\nSpeaker Profile\nProf. Christophe Schinckus is the Dean\,
