 stine and Canada: Resilience Despite Dispossession\, a talk by Dr. Gwendol
 yn Point and Dr. André Elias Mazawi.\nWhen: Friday\, February 6 from 2 - 
 4:30 PM on the Abbotsford campus (date will be shared with registered part

 re filled.\n\nThis timely gathering will bring together two distinguished 
 speakers whose work addresses the enduring impact of settler colonialism a
 nd the resilience of Indigenous cultures:\n\nDr. Gwendolyn Point\nKnowledg
 e Keeper for the BC Assembly of First Nation Chiefs\, former Chancellor of
  UFV\, and long-time educator and advocate for Indigenous language and cul
 ture. Dr. Point has served her home community of Sts’ailes and the broad
 er Stó:lō Nation in leadership and educational roles for over three deca
 des.\n\nDr. André Elias Mazawi\nProfessor and Department Head of Educatio
 nal Studies at UBC. Dr. Mazawi is a sociologist of education whose scholar
 ship critically examines the intersection of education\, coloniality\, and
  geopolitics—particularly in the Arab region. He is co-editor of Policie
 s and Pedagogies of Canadian Offshore School Programs (Routledge\, 2024).\
 n\nTogether\, Dr. Point and Dr. Mazawi will guide a dialogue on the ongoin
 g realities of dispossession and resistance\, bridging insights from Pales
 tine and Indigenous communities in Canada.\n\nThis event is hosted by the 
 Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion Committee of the Faculty of Education.
