 mer Term\n\nBeing a UFV international student from the beautiful continent
  of Africa has been such a wonderful blessing because of the opportunities
  to create unique art. Focusing on the women of Africa\, this series of pa
 intings involves women from East\, West\, South\, and North Africa.\n\nWhi
 le growing up in Tanzania\, I remember being fascinated by the amount of j
 ewelry my great grandmothers wore. Until this day\, the beautiful image of
  my great grandmothers’ traditional wear dominates my memory\, especiall
 y because of the brightly coloured beads. I draw major inspiration from th
 is and decided to create a series of portraits highlighting various Africa
 n women’s traditional jewelry.\n\nWhile researching\, I found out that m
 ost of the countries in Africa incorporate beadwork into their jewelry. Th
 is made me very excited because I’ve always wanted to play around with t
 he idea of adding beadwork into my paintings. I am very pleased with the e
 nding result\; I feel like these works of art speak to my culture\, my mem
 ory of my great grandmothers\, and the whole of Africa.\n\nOn View at the
