UFV Alert
At 10:15 am on Thursday, October 15 UFV will test UFV Alert: the emergency notification system designed to keep you and the UFV community connected with key information during an emergency or severe weather closure.
During the test you will receive a message on your phone or device if you have registered with UFV Alert.
Please ensure your UFV Alert contact information (cell number and email address) is up-to-date by checking here, or register for the first time here.
People in CEP Building A in Chilliwack will also receive an audio alert test in all rooms and areas in this building. No evacuation is necessary. This a test of the building’s emergency intercom system.

ShakeOut BC
The UFV Alert test takes place the same morning as the province-wide earthquake drill: The Great British Columbia ShakeOut.
At approximately 10:15 am on October 15, UFV staff and students are encouraged to join the hundreds of thousands of people voluntarily participating in this preparedness drill.
Participating is a great way for your family or organization to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes – wherever you live, work, or travel.
Find out how to be included in the Great British Columbia ShakeOut!
This is a voluntary exercise. During the drill participants should:
- Drop to the ground
- Cover under a table or desk
- Hold On for 60 seconds
For more information on how to participate in ShakeOut please visit The Great British Columbia ShakeOut.
