2020 National Philanthropy Day lunch
Please join the Abbotsford Community Foundation, in partnership with UFV, on November 16, 2020 for our 10th Annual National Philanthropy Day lunch and awards ceremony celebrating philanthropy in our community. We will be limiting tickets for the event to 50 attendees at the lovely Evered Hall at the University of the Fraser Valley from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Parking will be complimentary. We are so pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Angus Reid who will be at the lunch in person to provide an inspiring presentation on the importance of giving back.
Angus Reid is somebody who found a way to make his dream a reality. He recently retired from professional football after playing 13 years for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. The Richmond Born native and Simon Fraser University graduate played in 200 professional games placing him in the top 5 all time for games played by a BC Lion. Throughout his career, Angus has been a 3-time all-star, 2-time Grey Cup Champion and 5-time team captain.
Today Angus has become much more than simply a football star. He is a true fixture in his community. He has written a weekly newspaper column for the Vancouver Province, hosted a radio show on the team 1040 and is currently the host of Global TV’s “CrimeStoppers” and “The Monday Morning Blitz”. He speaks non-stop across both Canada and the U.S to businesses on what it really takes to make it and win. He has two highly successful Tedx talks and just recently released his first book – “Thank You Coach” which has already become an Amazon best seller.
Ticket cost will be $50 per person, which includes a plated lunch. Each attendee will receive a free copy of Angus Reid’s book, Thank you Coach, generously made possible by the University of the Fraser Valley. The first 100 people to sign up for the live stream will also receive a copy of the book which will be made available for pick up at the ACF offices. Please join us in celebrating the special volunteers, businesses and youth in Abbotsford that invest their time and talents to help the charitable sector thrive and nominate them today!
As we are limited to 50 attendees in person, we will also be offering a live stream via You Tube. This year, more than ever, we want to celebrate philanthropy in our community and give everyone the opportunity to cheer on the award nominees and listen to the inspiring keynote from Angus Reid. Abbotsford Community Foundation is honored to provide a way for people to invest in their community, to leave a lasting impact, and to inspire future generations to participate as well.
We are now seeking nominations for outstanding businesses and citizens in our community.
Ticket sales will commence when the nomination process closes on September 30, 2020 and offered first to the organizations that nominate and wish to bring their nominees to the live event.
