Film premiere, Emergence: Women in the Storm, a documentary celebrating women’s roles in mitigating climate change, Q&A with filmmakers and special guests
Join award-winning filmmakers from Transparent Film for the Fraser Valley premiere of their feature documentary EMERGENCE: Women in the Storm on Thursday, March 26th from 10:30am-12:50 pm in B101.
The film celebrates women’s varied approaches to mitigating harm from climate change in BC and the Yukon—including Dr. Michelle Superle’s “Flood Stories Project”. Special guest poet Meghan Fandrich, author of Burning Sage: Poems from the Lytton Fire will also be present to discuss the role of her poems in the film. A Q&A session with the filmmakers, Fandrich, Dr. Superle, and other participants follows the screening.
This event is free and open to all members of the UFV community, along with their friends/family. Emergence is a Knowledge Original: don’t miss your chance to experience this “highly anticipated” (The Georgia Straight) and “evocative” (The Narwhal) documentary with the filmmakers themselves before it airs on Knowledge Network in April. *Note that this event at UFV will be followed by a similar event in the evening at the Reach Gallery from 5:00-8:00 pm.*
