Upriver Halq’eméylem Translation Contest

The UFV Modern Languages Institute Halq’eméylem program is pleased to be hosting the ‘Upriver Halq’eméylem Translation Contest’ this Friday, April 30th 10 am. In these extraordinary times, this years’ contest is completely virtual via Zoom. Over 190 students representing school districts from all over the Fraser Valley, Sts’ailes and Seabird Island Community School will be participating by using the ‘Learning Branch’ program to assess phrases and sounds of the Upriver Halq’eméylem Language. We are very excited to have Keynote Speaker from Iwesteleq, Thomas Jones, from Snuneymuxw First Nations, with us for this event.

Open to Halq’eméylem students only.
