The office of Research, Engagement, and Graduate Studies (REGS) invites all to attend a meet-and-greet for UFV’s newest Canada Research Chair, Dr. Keith Thor Carlson, on Tuesday, September 24 (10-11:30 am) in the Gathering Place at UFV Chilliwack.
Dr. Carlson is a Professor of History from the University of Saskatchewan, an honorary member of the Stó:lō Nation, and, as of this month, UFV’s third Canada Research Chair.
The Government of Canada awards this distinction as part of a program to recruit 2,000 of the world’s most innovative scholars to Canadian universities and fund ground-breaking research which has positive, tangible impacts on Canadian lives. Dr. Carlson is a Tier 1 Research Chair in Indigenous and Community-Engaged History, having spent the last 27 years completing community-engaged scholarship (CES) with Indigenous partners in BC, Saskatchewan, Washington State, and the Philippines.
We hope those who wish to welcome Dr. Carlson to the UFV family — and back home to BC — will join us on September 24.
Coffee, tea, and light morning snacks will be provided.
