GHAR KAHA HAI? (WHERE IS HOME?)
JANUARY 10–29, 2025
S’ELIYEMETAXWTEXW ART GALLERY, B136
Explore the evolving meaning of home through GHAR KAHA HAI? (WHERE IS HOME?), an immersive multimedia exhibition by Anushray Singh. Originally conceived as Singh’s MFA thesis at the University of Windsor, this project has transformed into a compelling exploration of ‘Third Space,’ blending personal and collective narratives of immigration, identity, nostalgia, and belonging.
Phase 2 of the project introduces an avant-garde documentary component, featuring interviews with 50 diverse voices, primarily from South Asian communities in Vancouver. Through vignettes of these conversations and evocative time-based media and photography, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the ever-shifting meaning of home—situated between India and Canada, East and West, past and present.
Join us as the gallery becomes a ‘third space,’ where the stories and musings of the collective illuminate a shared journey of migration and belonging.
We look forward to welcoming you to this exhibition!
Gallery hours: Mo-Fr 12 to 5p.m.
