Gentle Hatha Yoga I
In this session we will practice Gentle Hatha Yoga together. Gentle Hatha Yoga is a form of meditation that focuses on breath and gentle movement/stretches. During this session participants will be able to choose how to join in the movement either from a mat on the floor or a chair. No prior experience with yoga is required to be able to participate. There will be time to ask questions and learn more about the experience through sharing and dialogue.
Tuesday, November 9 12 – 1 PM
Christine is the Department Head for Child, Youth and Family Studies at UFV and has been using different forms of mindfulness and meditation in a career that spans over 4 decades as a psychiatric nurse, child and youth care counsellor, child life specialist and now as an associate professor teaching stress reduction to university students. Meditation offers a way to navigate the experience of stress, anxiety, pain and difficult moments in life. Building a practice of mindful meditation can help us be more resilient and find a greater sense of contentment in our lives, no matter how challenging it may seem. If you are interested in learning more about meditation, this series will offer the basics to explore a practice that can contribute to your overall health and wellbeing.
Please note that this event is for UFV employee fitness challenge participants only. To register for this event, please e-mail Kathryn.Wingerak@ufv.ca to receive the Zoom link.
