Let’s chat online about Traditional Storytelling practices, or anything associated with Story and Oral Traditions. These sessions are led by Leanne Joe (Indigenous Curriculum Developer) and are scheduled via ZOOM for the last Wednesday of the month with a topic to guide our discussion.
Topic – Storytelling in Teaching and Learning: combined with Chat-R and will have a special guest Storyteller and Sto:lo Elder Dr. Gwendolyn Point.
Dr. Point is a Stó:lō matriarch and role model, and she is respected for her knowledge and practice in Indigenous communities. In her role as an educator and advisor, she continues to be an influential advocate for the inclusion of Indigenous ways along with western academia. Dr. Point will share with us local traditions about storytelling and land acknowledgment protocols for participants to gain clarity and comfort with respectful inclusion in their practice and a focus on why it is important for everyone.
